The city of the three religions

Although Toledo is the seat of the Spanish Catholic Church and one of its most famous attractions is the Toledo Cathedral, it was home to three religions more than a thousand years ago. Toledo became the centre of the Spanish Catholic Church in 567, but the city was occupied by the Moors in 711 and then by the Córdoba Caliphate. Then in 1035 it became part of a smaller Muslim state called Tolaitela until 1085.
During these more than three hundred years, the Muslim, Christian and Jewish communities practiced their religion peacefully side by side, the traces of which fortunately did not disappear during the centuries. In addition to the Cathedral, several Christian churches are among the attractions of Toledo, as well as synagogues and mosques.
