Nowadays, we’re all gasping at the new trends, but fashion used to change much more slowly, especially when it came to exposing the naked body. This was particularly true of bathing, which became increasingly popular during the 19th century. Initially, women wore lighter material but still casual clothes on the beaches, which were only replaced in the 1920s by women’s one-piece swimwear, but even these had a bottom part resembling short. At the same time, the size of men’s swimsuits also decreased, eventually leaving the upper body bare. (János Vaszary: Ballplayers)
